What We Do

Services

Every job we quote, broken down by what's actually involved.

Everything we take on

Every job below is one we do ourselves across Memphis.

Deck Installation

We build new decks from the footings up, sized to actual span tables instead of rules of thumb. Framing, ledger flashing and decking all get handled by the same crew, start to finish.

Custom Deck Design

Multi-level decks, built-in benches, angled corners, whatever the yard and the house call for. We'll draw it out and walk you through the layout before any lumber gets cut.

Deck Repair

Soft boards, sagging joists, a post that's shifted off its footing, we fix what's actually wrong instead of just swapping the board that broke. Some repairs are an afternoon, some mean opening up the frame.

Deck Board Replacement

Rotted or splintered boards get pulled and replaced to match spacing and fastener pattern on the rest of the deck. We check the joists underneath while we're at it, since that's usually where the rot started.

Composite Deck Installation

Composite decking skips the yearly sanding and staining that pressure-treated pine calls for in Memphis humidity. We install brands like Trex and TimberTech with hidden fasteners so the board faces stay clean.

Deck Staining & Sealing

We strip old finish, sand the boards, and reseal with a stain rated for the sun and humidity Memphis gets from June through September. Skip this more than a year or two and the wood starts checking and graying for good.

Deck Railing Repair & Installation

Loose balusters, a top rail that flexes when you lean on it, or a full railing system that never met the 36-inch height code. We rebuild it to hold weight and pass inspection.

Deck Resurfacing

If the frame underneath is still solid, we can replace just the decking and railings instead of tearing the whole structure down. It's a faster job and it costs less than a full rebuild.

Screened-In Deck Construction

We frame and screen in an existing or new deck so you get the outdoor space without the mosquitoes that come with a Memphis evening. Roof tie-in and flashing get handled the same as any other addition to the house.

Deck Demolition & Rebuild

Some decks are past the point of patching, rotted ledger, footings that were never right to begin with. We tear it out and start over instead of building new boards on top of a bad frame.

How It Works

Four steps, and no surprises in any of them.

01

We come and look

You tell us what you want doing, we look at what is actually there, and we ask the awkward questions early.

02

You get a price

In writing, itemised, free. If something might add cost later we flag it now rather than at the end.

03

We do the work

Same crew throughout. We cover your floors, keep the dust down and tidy up before we leave each day.

04

We walk it with you

You point out anything you are not happy with and we fix it before the invoice, not after.

Common Questions

Things worth asking

Questions that come up once a deck project is underway.

Do I need a permit to build a deck in Memphis?
Most decks attached to a house, or built more than 30 inches off the ground, require a permit and an inspection in Shelby County. A licensed deck builder handles the permit application and schedules the inspection as part of the job.
How long does it take to build a deck?
A straightforward ground-level deck usually takes about a week from footings to final board, weather allowing. A raised multi-level deck with built-in features or a screened enclosure takes longer, closer to two to three weeks.
Can you build a deck to fit a specific budget?
Deck size, railing style and material choice all get adjusted to hit a target budget, and pressure-treated pine costs less upfront than composite decking. A written quote breaks out where the money's going so trade-offs are clear before work starts.
Do you guarantee your deck work?
Workmanship is covered by warranty, and materials like composite decking usually carry their own manufacturer warranty on top of that. Any issue with fasteners, framing or finish that shows up after the job is done gets addressed.
Who do I talk to during the project, a project manager or the crew?
The same crew building the deck is who you talk to day to day, rather than a separate office contact. Questions about progress or changes get answered on site instead of through a call center.
What decking material should I choose, wood or composite?
Pressure-treated pine costs less to install but calls for restaining every year or two in Memphis humidity to keep it from graying and checking. Composite decking costs more upfront but skips that yearly upkeep, which matters if you don't want to deal with it.
Can I still use my yard while the deck is being built?
Most of the yard stays usable during a deck build, though the immediate work area around footings and framing has to stay clear for safety. Deliveries of lumber or composite decking usually get staged in the driveway or side yard.
What do I need to do to prepare my property before the work starts?
Clearing furniture, grills and planters off the old deck or the build site makes the first day faster. Access to a power outlet and clear space for material delivery also helps keep the schedule on track.
What happens if you find rot or a bad footing once the old deck comes off?
Hidden rot in ledger boards or a footing that was never poured to code shows up sometimes once the old decking comes off. That gets flagged right away with a cost to fix it before framing continues, rather than building over a problem.
How do I take care of a new deck once it's built?
Pressure-treated pine calls for restaining every one to two years in Memphis weather, plus a yearly check for loose fasteners or shifted boards. Composite decking mainly requires washing off pollen and debris, with far less sealing or staining involved.
